Privacy Policy & Data Protection

1. Family privacy

Family Care Today (familycaretoday.com) helps families coordinate care. Family members must be invited and granted care access. Before any care information is shared, a family administrator records consent from each person receiving care: either the person agreed themselves, or a legal representative agreed for them (for example an attorney under an enduring power of attorney, or a decision-making representative appointed by the court). We rely on this explicit consent for health information (GDPR Article 9(2)(a)). Consent can be withdrawn at any time by telling a family administrator or us; care information in that family then closes for everyone until consent is recorded again. Family administrators control which members have care access. Share only information you are entitled to share. Existing recorded withdrawals still restrict sharing, and you can contact us to request correction, restriction or deletion. We do not sell personal or health data or run third-party advertising trackers.

Hosting and sign-in providers also process technical information, such as IP addresses, for service delivery and security. Our international-transfer arrangements are still under review; a care-permission checkbox is not presented as a substitute for those arrangements.

2. Information We Collect

• Account Information: Your name, email address and family relationship. Firebase Authentication handles sign-in credentials; the application does not store your password in care records.
• Care Information: Visiting rota slots, completed visit handover notes, mood logs, medication reminders, tasks, and shared family photos.
• Workspace activity: We record the time of family care changes, deliberate use of care pages and requests to keep a workspace, to support our inactivity policy. This does not record the contents of clicks or keystrokes.
• Billing Information: Paid subscriptions are not currently available. No payment is required to explore the service. Any future checkout will display its price and terms before you agree to pay.

3. Hosting and international processing

The current care database and application server are hosted by Google Cloud in the United States (us-west1). Firebase Authentication also processes account information in the United States. Connections use HTTPS and Google Cloud encrypts stored data. This is not an exclusively European-hosted service, and encryption alone does not establish GDPR compliance.

4. Your Right to Erasure & Data Deletion

You can request access, correction or deletion of your personal information, or raise a privacy concern, using the contact below. We verify requests and consider other people's information and any applicable retention obligations. Removing a member stops their future access but cannot retrieve copies they previously downloaded or shared outside the app.

Account export is available under Privacy and account controls. Family export requires current administrator care access. Closing a family workspace and deleting a login are separate actions; deleting a login does not erase another family's care records. Where automatic account deletion is unavailable, use the contact below.

Automatic deletion after inactivity is not currently enabled. Records remain until an applicable deletion request is completed. Backups and minimal deletion records require separate handling. Firebase states that, after account deletion is initiated, authentication information is removed from its live and backup systems within 180 days; sign-in removal is not a promise that every supplier copy disappears immediately.
